The 2026 season runs from April 7th to October 8th.
The museum is open every day from 09:00–15:00 during the summer season,
from June 1st to August 31st.

Adults: 100 NOK
Children (ages 4–18) / students: 50 NOK

The mining area
Follow the cultural trail to Ridestiene, the pavilion and the ruins of the smelter works. Active fun on the mining playground and in the zipline, with Eventyrjakten rebus and the Time Travel app you will get to know the exciting history of mining even better!
The family-friendly Eventyrjakten and map can be found in the mailbox behind the Visnes sign, otherwise at the Visnes Mining Museum.With the Time Travel app, you can go on a journey of discovery and see scenes from the mining era unfold in the cultural landscape.

Guided Tours
The museum welcomes groups for guided tours throughout the year. Guests receive a guided tour lasting between 60 and 120 minutes.
We currently offer three different guided tours.
They are as follows:
1) The Museum Tour
Duration approximately 1 hour.
The King Oscar’s Gate, the museum (with the cinema film and exhibition) and 1 Workers Home.
2) The Museum Area Tour
Duration approximately 1 hour.
A tour around the mining area
Statue of Liberty, the mine from World War II, the Smelting Hut, the Gazebo and Fransehagen Park.
Minimum price for a guided tour: 1200 NOK.
3) Theatrical walk
1 hour
Minimum price: 1750 NOK.
We also offer other tours dependant on what you wish to see and do while in Visnes.
Relaxing and chilling
At the museum you will find benches and chairs where you can take a break and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, soda, icecream or muffin.
There are also tables and benches right outside the museum.
We have also a big variety of souvenirs, leaflets and books for sale.
